The Calendar feature in Kriyo helps schools, preschools, childcare centers, and after-school programs plan and share events, holidays, and birthdays — all in one place. Parents and teachers get timely reminders, ensuring no one misses an important event or turns up on a holiday morning.
Opening the Calendar
- Tap on See All Features on the home screen.
- Scroll to the Track & Act section and click on Calendar.
- If you use the Calendar frequently, you can also mark it as a Favourite for quicker access.
At the top of the Calendar screen, you’ll see four buttons — All, Birthdays, Events, and Holidays.
- All is the default view, showing every upcoming item — events, holidays, and birthdays — assorted by date.
- Tapping on Birthdays will show only birthdays.
- Tapping on Events will display only the scheduled events.
- Tapping on Holidays will show only holidays.
Understanding Calendar Color Codes
Each date in the Calendar view includes a small colored dot to help you quickly identify what’s scheduled:
- 🟡 Golden Line – Birthday
- 🔵 Navy Blue Line – Event
- 🩷 Pink Line – Holiday
These color codes make it easy to glance through the calendar and understand what’s coming up, without opening each date individually.
Adding a New Event or Holiday
- Click on the + Button
- Tap the + icon at the bottom right corner to create a new entry.
- Select Event Type
- Choose whether you’re adding an Event or a Holiday from the top of the screen.
- Enter Event Details
- Add the Title (for example, “Annual Day Celebration”).
- You can also mention the Event Location — including a Google Map link if the venue is outside the school campus.
- Set Date and Time
- If it’s an all-day event, select the All Day checkbox.
- If it’s for a specific duration, select the Start Time and End Time.
- Select Programs
- Choose the programs or classes for which this event or holiday applies.
- Only parents of children in the selected programs will see this event in their app.
- Add Description and Attachments
- Include a short Description with event details or instructions.
- You can also attach a brochure, PDF, image, or voice message.
- Manage Notifications
- When you add or modify multiple events or holidays together (for example, for the entire term), you can turn off notifications to avoid overwhelming parents with multiple alerts.
- By default, the Notify Recipients option is unselected. You can skip selecting it if you’re adding multiple items — the events will still appear on the parent’s calendar without push notifications.
- For updates or new events added close to the actual date, select the Notify Recipients box to send instant alerts to parents and teachers.
- Save and Publish
- Tap Save once done.
- The new event or holiday will instantly appear on the parents’ calendar in the Kriyo Parent App.
Creating a Holiday
When adding a holiday:
- Select Holiday from the event type.
- Enter the Holiday Title (for example, “Summer Vacation”).
- Select All Day — holidays are always full-day events.
- Choose whether it’s a one-day or multi-day holiday by setting the start and end dates.
- The rest of the details (program selection, description, attachments, and notification behavior) work the same way as for events.
Birthdays in Calendar
You don’t need to add birthdays manually.
Kriyo automatically fetches them from each student and staff profile.
- The calendar shows birthdays with names and age, e.g., “Lily’s 6th Birthday” or “Sansa’s 4th Birthday.”
- If a birthday is missing or incorrect, go to the child’s or staff’s profile and update the date of birth — it will automatically sync to the Calendar.
Editing an Existing Event or Holiday
- Tap on the event or holiday you wish to modify.
- Tap the Edit button at the bottom right corner.
- Make any required changes — such as title, date, time, program, or description.
- Tap Save.
- The changes will instantly reflect on the parent’s calendar, and they’ll receive a notification about the update.
Deleting an Event or Holiday
- Tap on the event or holiday you want to remove.
- Click on the Edit button, then tap the Delete (bin) icon at the top right corner.
- Confirm deletion.
- The event or holiday will immediately disappear from the parent’s calendar.
