How to Structure Programs and Classes in Kriyo for Different School Models

What Is a Program in Kriyo?

In Kriyo, a Program represents a classroom, group, or activity where children are enrolled. Programs form the backbone of your school structure and are used across attendance, updates, fees, and reports, etc.

A program can represent:

  • Academic classes (Nursery, LKG, UKG)
  • Sections (LKG – Section A, Section B)
  • Daycare or after-school care
  • Activity-based programs (music, dance, sports)
  • Age-based groups (infants, toddlers)

There is no restriction on how many programs you can create or how you name them. Schools are free to structure programs in a way that matches their real-world operations.

One Child, Multiple Programs

A key advantage of Kriyo is that one child profile can be part of multiple programs.

For example if a child attends

  • Morning: Kindergarten
  • Afternoon: Daycare
  • Evening: Music class

The child is added once, and the same profile is used across all programs.

💡 Billing remains simple:

Even if a child is part of multiple programs, they are counted as one unique child (one slot) for billing.

Managing Sections, Ratios, and Visibility

Programs help schools:

  • See how many children are mapped to each program
  • View which teachers are assigned
  • Balance sections when multiple classrooms exist
  • Maintain staff–child ratios easily

Start Exploring Without Setup Stress

When your Kriyo account is created, you don't start with a blank screen.

Kriyo automatically:

  • Creates a default program (for example, Kindergarten)
  • Adds a demo child profile
  • Maps the school admin as both a school user and a parent

This allows you to:

  • Send updates from the School App
  • See how parents receive them on the Parent App
  • Explore features without adding real data

You can delete the demo data anytime once you're ready to set up your actual programs and children.

💡 This makes it easy for new schools to understand the flow before going live.

Why Program Structure Matters

A well-structured program setup helps schools:

  • Avoid confusion as enrolments grow
  • Manage promotions year after year
  • Keep fees, attendance, and updates organised
  • Scale smoothly without reworking data later
